Aspen Storage
Sauk Rapids, MN (Benton County)

The site was not suitable for future commercial development because of the poorly graded, frost susceptible native soils and the generally low elevation of the area.

Existing buildings were constructed by placing 2-6’ of sand over the existing soils. Even with this free draining granular material and proper compaction, movement had occurred in the buildings. These existing storage buildings were pole framed, and the poles were installed at least 42” below the surface. In spite of this, the frost had pushed some of the poles far enough upwards that they had to be cut off and re-anchored to stop the deformation of the structure.

Green Aggregate Fill was used as an aggregate substitute to create a stable, uniform site pad to accommodate parking lots, drive aisles and future buildings.

4,000 cubic yards of Green Aggregate Fill was used.
